Contraindications for hair restoration

There are very few conditions that are considered as contraindications for hair restoration. The most common are unrealistic expectations of patients, when patient desires his hairline to be too low or any other look that doesn’t go with his face, when donor area is to small that can’t provide enough hairs.

Women’s hair loss can’t be always treated with hair restoration so good patient selection is critical.

Some skin diseases are also contraindications such as discoid lupus, lichen, planopilaris, psoriasis, alopetia areata (active phase)

Certain systemic conditions are relative contraindications for hair restoration, such as : diabetes, Coagulation disorders, poor wound healing or tendency to make keloid scars.
