Trichotillomania

Trihotilomanija-300x197

Trichotillomania is the compulsive urge to pull out (and in some cases, eat) one’s own hair leading to noticeable hair loss, distress, and social or functional impairment.

It is classified as an impuls control disorder and is more common in girls at the beginning of their puberty.Common areas for hair to be pulled out are the scalp, eyelashes, eyebrows, arms, hands, and pubic hairs. Trichotillomania is usually confined to one or two sites, but can involve multiple sites.

Sometimes infections may appear at places where hairs have been pulled out. After successful psychological therapy and ceasing from pulling hair, hair restoration is advised as a treatment.
