FAQ

Dear Sir/Madam,
I was wondering whether you perform hair transplantation under general anaesthetic or whether there is any other option.
Yours, Nataša Nikolić

Dear Nataša,
Hair transplantation is carried out under local anesthetic, and there is no discomfort for the patient. On special request, the procedure may be done under analgosedation, which will allow the patient to sleep during the procedure, but you will not be under general anaesthetic. A hair transplant procedure can take as long as 6 or 7 hours and there is really no need for the patient to be under general anaesthetic for so long. You can read more about the special options you can ask for during hair transplantation here: https://haircenter.rs/specijalne-ponude/

Dear Miloš,
I hope you have had a chance to learn about the technique of hair transplantation – you can find a great deal of information on our website. As far as booking goes, I live and work abroad and periodically come to Belgrade, as my schedule allows. All we need to carry out a full evaluation of the condition of your hair is for you to email me your photos. I will also need some additional information relating to your hair loss, which you can also email to me. Also, if you would like a face-to-face appointment then we can keep in touch and fix a time and date for when I am next in Belgrade. Dr Gorana Kuka.

Dear Doctor Gorana,
I am not happy with the look of my eyebrows and have heard about eyebrow transplantation. Can you tell me more about that, and how can we book an appointment? Thank you, M.V.

An eyebrow transplant is the only way to restore a natural look to your eyebrows in a completely natural way. The procedure itself is really very straightforward, and more and more women are taking this option in order to correct their eyebrows. It is a surgical procedure whereby a special microsurgical punch is used to extract hairs one at a time from the donor region (usually the back of the head) and then implant them in the eyebrow region, in the natural direction of growth, in the desired shape and in the necessary density. The whole procedure is performed under local anaesthetic and takes two to three hours, after which you can go home with no dressings or stitches. For a few days after the procedure you can expect swelling, redness and crusting, but no pain. The end results of the procedure can be expected some 6-9 months after the procedure. In order for us to assess the extent of the procedure you need, and approximate pricing, it would be good if you could send us a photo of your eyebrows, and also to write roughly what you would be aiming for with the procedure.

Dear Sir/Madam, what is the price of a hair transplant?

Hair Center Serbia:

Dear Luka, the price of a hair transplant is determined on a case-by-case basis, depending on the scope of the procedure, how demanding it will be, and the objective you are trying to achieve. Also, if you opt for any of the additional services during your hair transplant that will also affect the price. There are particular dates when we offer discounts – the best thing would be to register for our newsletter so that you can receive notifications of these, or to Like our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/HairCenterSerbia where we post regularly when there are special discounts.
If you are comparing prices of transplants at several clinics, check whether you are being offered a certain number of grafts (transplants) or hairs. The difference is that a graft can comprise one, two, three or more hairs. So for a transplant of, say, 1000 grafts you could get 2200-2400 hairs – so be aware of what you are being offered. If you want us to evaluate the condition of your hair, the best way is to send us a photo. Then we can suggest how many grafts you might need, a plan and an objective for the procedure, and you will also know the approximate cost of your hair transplant. It is important that you are aware of what we can achieve with a hair transplant, and what you can expect.

Dear Doctor Kuka,
I have noticed a lot of hair loss recently. I am 24, and in my family my father and brother have a similar problem. Can you suggest how I might reduce this hair loss as I don’t want to lose my hair. Thank you for your time, Nikola Pešić, Novi Sad.

Dear Nikola,
Since you are quite young it would be good to start with some therapy to prevent further hair loss, and you do appear to have a predisposition to hair loss in your family (your father and brother). The best thing would be to start washing your hair with a hair loss treatment shampoo (like Marbo, Alpecin or Alin). Hair loss treatment also usually involves the use of minoxidil lotion. There are some excellent therapies such as laser therapy and PRP therapy. Before taking a decision on any therapy you should certainly come in for an appointment so that we can determine the cause of the hair loss and then decide on an appropriate therapy or combination of therapies.

Poštovana doktorice Kuka,
Dear Doctor Kuka,
Around a month ago a hairless patch appeared on my beard 2 cm x 2 cm in size, and the hair isn’t growing back there. I have never had anything like that appear before. Can you write something about what this might be and how I should treat it? I am very worried, so would appreciate a speedy reply. Bojan

Hair Center Serbia:

Dear Bojan,
This is probably alopecia areata. It’s an autoimmune disorder where the hair falls out in patches, just like you describe. I can only give you a definite diagnosis if I examine you and carry out a dermatoscopy. This can be very successfully treated with small doses of corticosteroids or PRP therapy. In any case I would suggest you come in for an appointment and we start treatment before it progresses further.
